Reading BTC prices

This Bitcoin line joins sampled reference prices, rather than exchange candles. Breaks mean observations are missing. The opening, high, low and closing values of a candle are different data and are not inferred from this line.

Is the Bitcoin figure an executable trading price?

No. The provider aggregates a reference quote. An exchange can offer a different rate, and fees or withdrawal costs change the amount that reaches your wallet.

Data method: CoinMarketCap API documentation.

Compare purchase fees in the exchange cost guide, or estimate a cross-rate with our converter.

How to read it

The body spans the opening and closing prices. The thin wick reaches the highest and lowest trades in the period. A rising candle closes above its open; a falling candle closes below it. A candle describes what happened, not what happens next.
